What Does The Bible Mean By You Must Be Born Again?
We heard a lot about “born again” Christians or some countries may even say, “born agains”. Where does this term come from? Is it Biblical?
Actually, Jesus told the religious priest who came in the night the book of John, “Jesus answered and said to him, “ Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
(John 3:3 NKJV)
If you have a New American Standard Bible, or any other version with literal translation of the Greek original to English, you’ll see that “born again” is literally “born from above”. What does this mean? Literally, when you accept Jesus as you’re Lord and Savior (you can do that here), your spirit becomes new. Your spirit is born from above.
Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation. The old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence
(2 Corinthians 5:17 God’s Word Translation)
Born again is your spirit becoming new when you receive and confess Jesus as savior.
