Do I Receive The Holy Spirit At Salvation Or Is It A Separate Thing?
Many Christians wonder why they don’t have the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives. They are undoubtedly saved. They love God, they pray, and many read His Word, the Bible.
There’s a debate among many Christians, that don’t know the power of the Holy Spirit, of whether they have received the Holy Spirit or not. In Acts 19:2, believers were asked if they had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit when they were saved. They told the minister then they had not, and received the Holy Spirit then.
Like those believers in the book of Acts, the majority of the Christians are not baptized in the power of the Holy Spirit
Don’t we receive the Holy Spirit When We Are Saved?
Yes! Every believer receives the Holy Spirit when they are saved. Romans 8:11 tells us that the Holy Spirit swells in us. We’re a three part being so where does the the Holy Spirit dwell in us? God, the Holy Spirit, dwells in our spirit.
The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit happens to different believers in different times. Mostly because many evangelists don’t have the Holy Spirit power. When you are saved, get the baptism then and there. There is no need to wait.

We receive the Holy Spirit when we are saved. However the baptism is the immersion of the believer into the power of that same Holy Spirit. That is a direct connection to the power of God. Not only is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit a unique experience, it is something we must immerse ourselves in daily. Ephesians 5:8 tells us not to be drunk with alcohol but to be filled with the Spirit. Again, it tells believers to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Apparently it is possible for believers not to be filled with the Holy Spirit. We have all met Christians that are filled with the world. In fact, some times we might have been one.
Ephesians 5:8 says, be filled with the Spirit. The literal language translation is present progressive here. Literally, it is ‘be being filled with the Holy Spirit’. Just like any relationship, you have to spend time on it to really know the person. The Lord Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River and that is when the power really came. He started His ministry, healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out demons, and feeding the hungry.
The ministry of God, didn’t stop with the death and resurrection of God’s Son Jesus Christ. Believers, followers of Jesus are supposed to do the same thing. In fact, we’re supposed to do greater things than He did while we’re on this earth. In John 14:12, Jesus God says we will do greater things than He did because He is going to Heaven and empowering believers. Jesus sent our sisters and brothers in faith out in Luke chapter 9 and Luke Chapter 10.
When you are saved, you receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit. But you must practice His presence and be filled with His presence daily. Haven’t received the Holy Spirit power in your life yet? Do it now!
