Do I Really Have to Pray All The Time?

Why is prayer for a Christian, so important?  When people say Christian, we have to realize that not everyone really is a follower of God.  Not everyone is the real thing.  In fact, there are essentially two types of Christians from a general perspective (more on that here).  Once you separate the committed Christians from the cultural Christians you find a concerning problem.  Most people do not pray regularly.  Some people don’t pray at all.  The Lord Jesus, God incarnate, made time to fellowship each day with God the Father.  He showed us how it was done, and how important it was.  Religion makes prayer an activity, but real prayer is a fellowship with the believer and the Most High Almighty God.  Do I really have to pray?  You don’t have to pray if…

  • If you’re okay with not knowing what’s going on, don’t pray
  • If you’re okay stumbling around in darkness, don’t pray.
  • If you don’t want to know what to do, don’t pray.
  • If you don’t mind being clueless about what to do about everything, don’t pray.
  • If you can live without God’s plan in your life, don’t pray.
  • If you are willing to risk not knowing what the enemy has planned for you, don’t pray.
  • If you’re fine being ignorant of the devil’s devices, don’t pray.
  • If you’re okay with wasting all of your resources and accomplishing nothing, don’t pray.
  • If you’re fine with guessing only to find out later it was not the Lord, don’t pray.
  • If you like going to other people and getting wrong answers, don’t pray.
  • If you are fine not having any manifestations of the Holy Spirit in your life, don’t pray.
  • If you can tolerate going year after year with the same problems and not knowing why they don’t change, don’t pray.
  • If you’re okay being bored and not having any excitement in life, don’t pray.

It is okay not to pray.  You may even still be a Christian with little to no prayer.  However, prayer is connecting your physical life with your spiritual life.  As you can see pray is a must if you want to go anywhere with God in your daily life.  It’s time to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).  That means always talking with God. He loves you and have an amazing plan for you.  Now it is time to fulfill it.
