Does God Want People To Be Rich And Prosperous?

There are some religious folks in addition to some well-meaning but completely wrong Christians that say, poverty is next to godliness somehow. This is one component of the Dark Ages Mentality (more on DAM here). If you are a parent, and want your kids to suffer and be sick and poor you have not done your job. Good parents leave an inheritance for their children’s children according to Proverbs 13:22. We should be so blessed, that it should flow to our grandkids to come!
How Much Does God Want You To Have?
Many people that aren’t making it big financially don’t want to see others surpass them in wealth. Some Christians try to explain away everything in the Bible as spiritual blessings and not physical. However, the Lord Jesus talks a lot about money in the New Testament. We see in 3 John 2, that the more you prosper in your soul (your mind, will, and emotions) the more you will prosper in everything else.
That’s why if you’re thinking is off, you can be shipwrecked in life. When a ship is thrown on the rocks, that means it is going no where. God wants you to go places in life, that’s why Romans 12:2 is such a pivotal passage. We are supposed to renew our minds, our way of thinking, when it is not in line with what God teaches us in the Bible.
God wants you to have abundance. He starts by giving those who receive, eternal life in John 10:10. Then the next steps is to have that life abundantly.
When the Lord Jesus ministered on the earth, He employed 12 full-time staff (the disciples). There were many other people that followed Jesus around to hear His teaching and the Lord took care of them many times as well. Judas was stealing from the money box, and Peter didn’t notice! There must have been a lot in that box! When the Lord Jesus was crucified His clothes were so nice that the soldiers gambled for them!
The very best way to find out what God thinks about something is by doing a Bible study on riches, prosperity, blessings, and anything else related to the topic. Yes! God wants you to be rich! If you are rich, you can be rich towards your family, yourself, and to others. You can’t take your riches with you, so wise believers are a blessing (that’s financially by giving) to people around them. Still not sure?
