Why Is It Important To Quiet Yourself Each Day?
People are driven each day by many things. Fame, fortune, or satisfying the personal desires are the highest priorities of many. Religious folk talk about clearing their minds and meditation, chanting, and other types of things. Eastern religion says clear your mind to attain some type of peace. Some Christians shy away from anything named meditation because of the stigma associated with the English word. However, meditation really just means deeply thinking about something and doesn’t have to be associated with anything religious or strange.
People enjoy a regular run, a cycling trip, or just a quiet time in the morning reading. That’s heading along the right path but missing the point. Meditation without God can be dangerous as there are dark spirits that want to mislead you. We must understand that mankind (men, women, girls, and boys) are made by God and are 3 part beings. We are spirits, we have souls (mind, will, and emotions) and we live in bodies. Our body is our earth-suit. Without your ‘earth-suit’ you have no right to exist on the earth. When you quiet yourself, you can say you are quieting your spirit. (However, you’re actually quieting your soul as well because that’s your mind, will and emotions).
With all the distractions around us every day, it is important to disconnect from the ‘noise’ and quiet our spirits (which includes your soul- mind, will, emotions). You have to make a choice to have a quiet time. If you do your quiet time with God, you can get a lot more out of it than just what you think.
God speaks to His people during their quiet times. In fact, the Lord Jesus made a point of spending time in the Father’s presence each day (Mark 1:35, Mathew 14:23, Luke 6:12). To refresh our inner man, we must spend time with the Lord.
When you spend time with God each day;
- Your spirit man is refreshed and ready for another day
- You can better hear God’s voice through the Holy Spirit who is here and speaking to you (when you listen)
- You get direction on your daily business or relationship issues. For everything.
- You better understand your life’s purpose and future.
Why all these benefits to quieting yourself each day? Distracted people wander. Jesus people (Christians) with a God-connection have a daily vision for the great things God is going to accomplish through them spiritually, physically, financially, and much more!
Isaiah 40:31 says those who wait upon the Lord renew their strength. Let’s look it at from the opposite direction. Those who don’t wait on the Lord don’t renew their strength. They are spiritually dry and disconnected. In Matthew 11:28-30, the Lord Jesus tells people that know Him to come to Him and He will give them rest. Psalm 91:1-8 tells us that those who abide in God’s presence have God as their refuge and fortress of protection. Hallelujah!
To be a strong person, it is essential that you quiet your spirit and wait on the Lord each day. You will never be the same.
