What Should You Do When You Lose, Or Misplace Something?
Have you every lost something? Misplaced your keys, your wallet, a family heirloom, that insurance policy or something else? Even if the item is not of high monetary value, just losing something is a horrible feeling. The good news is it doesn’t have to be that way.
The Lord Jesus Christ promised us eternal life in John 10:10. He came to bring that life to every person, tongue, and tribe. Many people answer life’s most important question, “Are You Saved?” By praying Romans 10:9 and confessing Jesus as their Lord. Sometimes, that is where people stop. They don’t go any deeper with God. But that is not God’s plan for us. If you read on in John 10:10, Jesus, God in the flesh, says, He came to bring life in abundance.
What is abundance to you? Abundance is not just having, it is having more than you can possibly need or use. God wants you to live in abundance.
Living in abundance is living with God every day. Jesus has returned to Heaven in His resurrected earthly body, and the Holy Spirit (God in Spirit) is with us every day. In Hebrew, people say “shalom”. Many say it means peace. This is true, but literally shalom means ‘nothing missing, nothing broken’. Losing or misplacing something is a horrible feeling.
What Do I Do When I Lose Something?
What you do when you lose something is you take advantage of the abundant life that you have in Christ Jesus. When you realize you have lost something you pray, “Father, I have lost or misplaced X (fill in the blank). This is important to me. You tell me in Philippians 4:6 not to worry about anything so I take you at your word. I make my request to you to find this item and know that because I put you first in my life, I have peace that passes all understanding. Father I pray in the Name of Jesus, that I will find the item or if it is not near me, that it will be returned to me. Lord, I thank you so much for your goodness to me. Everything that I have is Yours, in the Mighty Name Of Jesus I pray, AMEN”.
Once you have stood on the word of God and prayed this prayer, don’t worry or think about it. Just affirm James 1:5 that if you ask for wisdom, God has promised that you shall have it. If you think about it, just thank God for the answer. If you think, thank Him every time.
Of course, we must not be foolish with the property and belongings we have. Believers are abundantly blessed and some will desire the things we have. We don’t want them to desire what we have, we want them to desire WHO we have? Jesus!
When you learn to entrust your items to the Lord, you will see that God’s Word works for you. If you’re not tithing it is a good sign you won’t be blessed, more here. If you lose or misplace something, don’t fret. Just focus yourself on God. Before you know it, you will find the item and more. Don’t lose your joy, but be confident that the Holy Spirit knows where it is and can direct you to the pocket in that jacket, the coffee shop, the train station, or wherever else it might be. Hallelujah! God is so good! Do you know Him?
