Who Is AA Allen?
Asa Alonso Allen (March 27, 1911 – June 11, 1970), better known as A. A. Allen, was an American preacher known for his great faith healing and deliverance ministry. He was, associated with the “Voice of Healing” movement founded by Gordon Lindsay (Later the founder of Christ For All Nations Bible School in Dallas Texas). Allen was a powerful minister for the Gospel of Jesus Christ who preached the Kingdom of God not only with authority but with signs and wonders following his ministry. He was not born a follower of Jesus Christ as everyone and worse yet, he was born into a very lost family with alcoholic parents. Despite a horrible start, he got saved as a young man beginning to know God through prayer and the Bible.
Allen had and incredible ministry that was mobile with a massive tent that his ministry team would put up in different cities around the United States. At their tent meeting revivals the sick, the dying, those without hope would come and hear an encouraging word from God through Allen and his team. The revival meetings got larger and larger as people were drawn by the preaching of the Word and the miracles that followed as Allen and the ministry team prayed for people and saw the super natural response of God working. Allen was a fantastic speaker who was dramatic. He infused music into his meetings that really touched people.
Allen was likely one of the sparks that lit the fire that broke down discrimination and segregation in the United States. At that time, African Americans were typically not allowed to gather with Caucasian people. Allen’s revivals welcomed people of every creed and color. Blacks, whites, Hispanics, and nearly everyone around were able to freely attend these revival meetings and see the power of God working in their generation. In fact, his worship minister was Gene Martin (a gifted singer and music director who happened to be African American). Martin brought a gift that really augmented the gifting of Allen and the revival meeting. Much like Oral Roberts who also ministered via a tent ministry around the United States (more about Roberts here Allen knew how to love people like His Lord Jesus Christ does. He demonstrated that love for many years affecting people’s lives for generations to come. While breaking down the walls of segregation of races in his meetings, Allen stood against the racists and their violent groups such as the Klu Klux Clan who threatened to bomb or blow up his meetings for daring to allow people of different races to gather together.
Dramatic, Dynamic, and Controversial
Like Jesus, Allen had no fear of controversy. In one of his meetings there was a rumor of someone with a gun who had come to assassinate him. He got up at the beginning of the meeting to the chagrin of his ministry team and told the crowd if there is someone here to try to kill him, ‘shoot me know’ so we can get on with the meeting. He addressed the threat head on. In fact, he was also very direct in his thoughts on ‘religious’ Christians. Those who talked about the Bible a bit but denied it’s power. Christians who were drowning in religious tradition but did not have the power of God through signs and wonders in their lives. Allen clearly irritated many in the various religious establishments as thousands were coming to his meetings and getting saved, healed of all kinds of sickness and disease, and delivered from demonic oppression and even possession. (Can A Christian Be Demonically Oppressed?)
Thousands of lives were changed during the Allen ministry revivals. Many others went into ministry to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ due to positive influence of this revival ministry.
Miracle Valley Ministry Headquarters and Bible School
In 1958 A. A. Allen founded Miracle Valley, Arizona after 1,250 acres of land were donated to be used for the ministry. He purchased more for a total of 2,400 acres to develop the ministry and town.
The property became an oasis in the Arizona desert, where people met and connected with God and each other, as they sought to do great things for Him throughout the world. People gathered for seasonal revivals in the large auditorium they built there.
Allen’s 50+ books, studies, tracts and other publications were produced on the ministry base property, along with the Miracle Revival Recordings vinyl records with gospel singing, sermons, healings and deliverance. His publishing house in Miracle Valley produced 55 million literature pieces annually. It was a ground-breaking ministry operating in the supernatural works of God.
By the time A. A. Allen passed in 1970, his ministry had a thriving Bible college in Miracle Valley, (which was one of the only in America at the time). His ministry base hosted tens of thousands each year and the town was a thriving community with active post office.
Allen’s Departure To Heaven
Allen went to be with the Lord at the age of just 59 years in 1970. The circumstances of his death are incredibly questionable. His family maintains that he was murdered by a religious Christian organization in a hotel room in San Francisco California. Allen’s body was buried at his ministry headquarters in Miracle Valley, Arizona. The doctor that did the autopsy of Allen’s body was paid $10,000 USD to make up a story to disgrace the name of Allen and try to tarnish the ministry. The Allen family shared the doctor confessed to the crime on his deathbed years later and produced a copy of the $10,000 USD check he had received from the religious people to prove it. Regardless of the ending, Allen was clearly not in the good graces of some in the religious establishment, but his contribution to stirring up revival in his nation as well as nations around the world for his generation is undeniable. A viewing of the meetings, the worship, and the miracles that were recorded on the film of that day are publicly available, encouraging, and clearly show the anointing of God on his life.
