How Can The Bible Be Infallible, When We Know It Is Written By Humans?
The Bible or “The Word of God” as it refers to itself, is a collection of 66 books. “Bible” actually comes from the Latin word ‘biblia’ which means ‘books’. The 66 books are divided into two. The Old Testament and the New Testament. Time is continuous but there is something that divides the Old from the New Testaments. The answer is Jesus. The advent of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, into the world is the end of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New. In the book of Matthew, chapter one, we see how the Son of God is connected to you and I through the first created man on the earth, Adam. The chapter shows the lineage of Jesus from Adam to the birth of Jesus.
The World’s Best Seller EVERY Year
The Bible is the best selling book in all of history. More Bibles sell every year than any other book. More people globally are changed by the Bible than any other book. Interestingly, the Bible is the book that people try to destroy, change, or prevent from getting in the hands and heads of the people. With 66 books, in the Bible wouldn’t this book be confused with so many authors? Actually, there are not 66 authors, but there are definitely many. The first five books of the Bible are called the Pentatuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) and are commonly attributed to being written by Moses. The New Testament was written by people such as Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, and Paul to start. Much of the New Testament was written by Paul. There is much more that can be said about the authorship of the Word of God.
How Can We Trust The Bible?
The Bible is written by men and women who loved and know God. We all know how imperfect human beings are. But as a believer who knows God and seeks after Him, you will be amazed how God teaches you by His Holy Spirit as you read the Word each day. The thing that brings everything together is that these people were not just that they loved God. There is a unity of the Holy Spirit that brings continuity to the writings of all the authors in the Old and New Testaments.
With All These Authors How Can The Bible Be Perfect? Isn’t the Bible filled with human errors?
The Bible was written by people who were inspired by God to write what they wrote. You can go hear two people read a speech, one with inspiration, and one without. The person with inspiration is the one people will listen two. When you have the inspiration of the Spirit of God there is no stopping you. Timothy summarizes what makes the Bible different from any book.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
-2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)
What makes the Bible holy, what makes it so special to God is that the Bible was written by humans that were inspired by God through His Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit that inspired the writers when they put God’s thoughts into text, is the same Spirit that teaches you as you read the Word each day when you have received Him. If you look at 2 Timothy 3:17 you see that the purpose of the Bible is to equip us to live the abundant lives that Jesus talks about in John 10:10.
The Bible is written from the perspective of political leaders, tax collectors, doctors, fishermen, businesspeople, priests, and many others. God can speak through the rich and the poor. There are many perspectives in the Word. We see the life of Jesus from 4 different perspectives, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The Old Testament shows what the world, people, are like without God (stealing, rape, incest, war, famine) and Jesus shows us in the New Testament how we are not to live like the world. God’s way is so much better.
Inspired By The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit
The Word of God is written by inspired men and women who were moved on by the Holy Spirit to record God’s thoughts, history, science, their praises (Psalms), bits on wisdom, as well chronicle as the lives of those who failed as well as those who succeeded. God’s desire is for you to succeed. The Word makes it very clear, there are two types of people on the earth. There are those who go after God with all they have, and those who don’t. In Romans 8:14, clearly those whom are led by the Spirit of God, they are God’s children. Are you a part of God’s family? Here’s how you do it.
