I Accepted Jesus. I’m A New Creation. Now What Do I Do? Six Guides To Christian Spiritual Growth
In accepting Jesus, you are a new creation, the old you is gone and it’s time to work on the new you. You are now right with God through the work of Jesus. You have eternal life. You are a chosen, blessed, and loved person. Now it’s time to grow up.
When you are born again, or literally “born from above” as the Bible calls it, you are spiritually reborn. Your spirit is brand new. Your body and soul (mind, will, and emotions) are the same. You are no longer in the darkness of the world. You have come out of the darkness and into the light. Just like any child, you have to nourish yourself, grow, and develop yourself.
What’s Next?
For a child to grow you’ve got to eat. Without food, a child will die. New believers can die spiritually if they don’t follow the Lord. There are six simple things that you have to keep in mind.
- Be baptized in the Holy Spirit
- Go to a Spirit-filled, strong faith church each week
- Renew your mind to God’s ways through the Bible
- Surround yourself with strong believers
- Spend time (pray) with God and talk with Him, all the time
- Hunger for more of God
That’s it. As believers we have to develop spiritual strength. That comes through renewing our mind (Romans 12:2) through reading, studying, and listening to anointed preaching of the Word of God. It also comes through fellowshipping with other people who are successful and know God. Most importantly it comes through spending time and getting to know God in a deeper way.
Your relationship with God all depends on you. Don’t be like the world. Come out and be different (2 Corinthians 6:17). God is waiting for you.
