Why Were Ananias And His Wife Sapphira Struck Dead In The Bible?
When you read the Book of Acts, it’s really exciting. We see that every person must be filled and baptized by the Holy Spirit. Once we have the Baptism, we have supernatural power. God wants us to be free from sin as God power flows freer when we are clean. With electricity, if the connectors are corroded or dirty, you will not get the full flow of power or even have a chance of fire.
Sin has all sorts of forms. Different people have issues with different things. While alcohol might be something very tempting to one person, it may be no big temptation for another. were land owners who sold their land to give to the church. They made it seem like they were giving to God the whole price… they lied.
Let’s think about things from God’s perspective. What is the worse sin, alcoholism, smoking, swearing, or lying? If you look at it, they are all bad. However lying is a condition of the heart. It gives place to the enemy (satan and his loose band of demons) to get into your life. Lying gives an opening to evil. As a matter of fact, in John 8:44 the enemy is called the father of lies because Jesus said he has always lied.
Ananias and Sapphira died because they lied. The enemy cannot stand in the presence of God. Neither can we without the redemptive work of Jesus. This was not the first time they lied. Lying is very serious. In fact, Revelation 21:27 says there are not and will never be liars in heaven.
If you don’t know Jesus today, meet Him. You can do it right were you are [link]. If you are away from Jesus or maybe have given the enemy a foothold in your life through lies, it’s time to get right. Pray 1 John 1:8 for yourself.
Father right now, I confess my sin. I confess lies and cheating that I have done to You right now. I pray Father that you would forgive me as I know that 1 John 1:9 says that if I repent and confess my sin, you will forgive me from all unrighteousness. I thank you that I am right with You now. I turn from my old ways and follow your ways today. Amen!
You’ve prayed this prayer. Now you need power. Learn to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit that we see in Acts chapter 2 here.
