What Happens To Human Beings After Death?

What Happens At Death?
One area people may think is less clear than taxes is the question, “What Happens To Me When I Die?” The short answer is you (your spirit/soul) leaves your body and you go to be either with God or forever separated from Him.
Religion
Some religion says at physical death you go into a cycle that if you were good while you were on the earth, you will reappear as a better human. If you were evil, you will come back to the earth as an animal or some other type of organism. The problem with this belief system not only that it is just a cycle but also that no one ever really remembers their so called ‘previous life’. When people dabble in darkness through religion, drugs, witchcraft, atheism and other deception, the enemy will certainly try to them go further from the truth. In some cases, we occasionally hear some people talking about their previous life but there is demonic influence behind that and the stories are made up.
People in developing nations don’t particularly think about what happens to them at death as many naturally know there is a heaven and hades/hell. People in developed nations tend to believe that when you die, that is the end of it. You were born and you die is the thought as they are so busy working, they don’t actually think why they are here. This is a dangerous hypothesis if you know what God says about death in His Bible.
Secular Society
Other people believe that you work your way to heaven. The prevailing misconception is that good people go to heaven and bad people go to Hades/hell. The problem with this idea is, how do we decide who is good and who is bad? Is someone who robs a store good or bad? What’s the difference between that thief and a person who tells lies?
The Bible is very clear about what happens to us when we die. Humans are a three part being according to 1 Thessalonians 5:23. We are a spirit, we have a soul (our mind, will, and emotions) and we live in a body. When we die, what happens? Actually, let’s step back a second.
As you read this now, we know you exist. When did your existence begin? It started when your mother and father conceived you. Sex is not just physical but it is a spiritual act as two spirits come together and God creates a new being through those two. Your existence began in the womb.
When You Die, Is That It?
What happens when you die? Hebrews 9:27 says we die physically once and then the judgment. What judgment? We are judged by God for what we did on the earth while we were in our bodies. There is a problem with humans. All of us have screwed up and done wrong. Romans 3:23 says everyone has sinned and falls short of God’s standards. John 3:16 says that God loves the world so much that He gave His perfect Son Jesus (God) to die on our behalf. However there is a catch.
John 3:16 says you have to believe. What do you have to believe? You have to believe that Jesus died on your behalf to cover your mistakes, imperfections and sins before God. He is our advocate, our proxy, he made us right so that we can be with God.
If you have a relationship with God. If you have accepted the work of Jesus the Son of God of dying on the cross, YOU SHALL BE SAVED and have everlasting life according to John 3:16. What is everlasting life? That is life with God in Heaven. Saved from what? From everlasting death and separation from God in darkness in hades/hell.
Death Is Not The End
When you die, you are actually not dying. You body is dying but you, your spirit/soul continues to exist. Your spirit/soul leaves your body at death and you go to be with God. If you did not accept Jesus while you were in your body on the earth, you will be eternally separated from God, His Kingdom (Heaven), and His people, You will be in a place of eternal damnation for what you’ve done. It is filled with rapists, liars, thieves, cheats, sexual sinners, murderers.. without Jesus we are lost. To a pure and perfect being, God the Father cannot accept a single gram of sin. Before Him whether the worst sexual sinner or just a liar, it’s all evil before His sight.
What is God’s plan for us? In John 10:10 we see that Jesus came to bring not only eternal life here and now, but also abundant life.
People are fearful of death, and rightfully so. What decisions you make today will affect your eternity. God’s desire is that everyone come to Him and He confirms that in 1 Timothy 2:4. There is no reason to be fearful of death as the Bible confirms that when you leave your body, you are present with the Father in 2 Corinthians 5:8. If you don’t know Him, you are lost. He wants to know you but you have to open the door to the relationship with God as He does not force Himself on us.
Pray This Prayer
Father, I recognize that I am a sinner. I know that by your grace we are saved from death and sin. Forgive me of all my sin, shortcomings, and wrongs. Right now, I confess Jesus as my personal savior and recognized that He died on my behalf. Jesus has washed away all of my sin by His work on the cross and i am made right and perfect before You. Right now I receive your life and whether in death or life I know You are with me. Thank you for saving me and please teach me how to be more like you and to walk in the abundant life you taught me about.
