Why Are People Born Disabled Or Handicapped? Is It God’s Will?
If you meet religious people they have various descriptions of why bad things happen to good people. We see in the Bible, how humans can live. We can live victorious and influential lives like Daniel, Joseph, David, Rahab, or we can run from God like Jonah. We can even be outright disobedient like King Saul and lose everything. We live in a corrupt and imperfect world, but the death and resurrection of Jesus makes us right before God the Father and puts us back into fellowship with Him.
We are no longer just residents of this imperfect world, we are citizens of the the Kingdom of God and ambassadors to show His light and love to the lost. If you want to know who you are, 1 Peter 2:9 tells you exactly what your role in this world is as a born-again believer.<div>In our world, we have people born who are crippled, handicapped, diseased, mentally challenged, deformed, or even mentally disturbed (many times due to the efforts of demons trying to control them). Is this God’s plan? Is this what God designed? Absolutely not! If a child is born deformed is this because of something that they did? Absolutely not! However, it may be because of something their parents did such as drinking alcohol or taking other drugs while pregnant or some other sin or departure from what is good and just.
This question is really nothing new. In fact, people asked the Lord Jesus a similar question. As God, The Lord Jesus’ answer to the question was brilliant. However, despite reading it for nearly 2,000 years people still don’t seem to have really grasped that brilliance directly from God.
Why did Jesus say people are born with disabilities?
A man who with a disability from birth was brought before Jesus. Religious people like to blame things on people so our guess it is that it was the religious people that asked, “Who sinned this man or his parents?” The people asked him if it was due to In John 9:3,
Jesus answered, ” Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.
What Is the Lord Jesus talking about here? You read how miracles should be a part of the committed Christian believer’s life here. We are supposed to walk in His power in our daily lives. Jesus is saying that disabilities and other physical and mental challenges are our chance to for believers to demonstrate God’s power in the lives of people. We are to pray for their healing and expect it to come. Acts 10:38 tell us that Jesus went about doing good and healing ALL who were oppressed by the enemy. Jesus tells us in John 14:12 that we’ll do greater works because He is going to the Father. He tell us about the Holy Spirit of God.
People are not born handicapped because it is God’s will. That’s just plain silly religious thinking. People are born challenged because we gave the control of the world in the Garden of Eden to the enemy and our world is corrupt until Jesus comes back. We are here to change our world, heal the sick, raise the dead, encourage the discouraged, share God’s heart with people so they can see His power and become His children.
