Why Is Marriage So Important To God?
The secular world is so very lost. Without God, they have no true grace, hope, love or peace. The only place to get true peace is from the Prince of Peace Jesus The Messiah (The Christ). When you do not know the Creator of the Universe, and the Creator of ourselves as human beings, you are missing that truth. The Lord Jesus says, you shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free (John 8:32). Truth is something you discover from God in His Bible. Truth is not discovered through religion, trips to the wilderness, or any other work. Jesus is the truth. We get the truth through the Bible. In fact, the Word Of God (the Bible) is Jesus (John 1:1), and it is the Word of God (JESUS!) that makes you right… that sanctifies you (John 17:17)!
Marriage is the physical and spiritual relationship between a man and a woman. Marriage is a commitment that should not entered into lightly. The Bible tells us in Genesis 2:24 that the man shall leave his father and mother, and the two shall become one flesh… that is having sex (How Often Should Married Couples Have Sex?). This means sex is a regular part of marriage. A sexless marriage really means you have just become roommates. Put passion back in your marriage. A person who is sexually withholding themselves from their spouse is not fulfilling their marriage commitment. At the same time, both the husband and wife should make sure they ‘satisfy’ each other each time they are intimate. A husband and wife will fulfill each other in a healthy marriage.
Why Is Marriage Important?
Marriage is important to God because just as every person who makes a commitment to God through Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9), married people similarly have pledged themselves wholly to each other until ‘death do they part’. From marriage to old age, the commitment of the man and woman must remain strong through nurturing, being together, sharing and loving each other beyond anyone or anything else. Just as we all need a relationship with God Almighty, we all need to be committed in our relationship with our spouse.
When a couple marries, the fulfillment of their marriage is physically realized through sexual intercourse, conception, and the birthing of children. It is not all about sex, but that is a big part of it. The children need a mother and a father. The role of a mother can only be fulfilled by a woman. The role of the father can only be realized by a man. The best person to fill the role of the father and mother are the birth parents. This does not negate that fact that a couple who adopts a child can love that child even more than the birth parents.
Marriage brings unity, unity brings family, families build communities, communities build identity and eventually national cultures. There is no perfect nation or culture. Every culture has positive and negative aspects. As a follower of Jesus Christ each parent can love their spouse and children as Christ loves the church. In Ephesians 5:25, we see the priority relationship in the family should be between the husband and the wife. Ephesians shows that husbands are to love their wives as Christ loves the church. Wives are to submit to their husbands that are submitting to Christ and loving them. Finally, in Ephesians 5 we see that the children are to obey their parents while they are in their house. They are to honor their parents after they leave. That does not mean that we have to go along with are parents when they are mean, mistaken, or in error. You can still honor your parents for looking after you, but you do not have to be involved in their troubles.
Healthy marriages are the base of healthy families. Healthy family relationships are the basis of strong nations.
